Bricks

Bricks imprinted with "Wooster, Ohio" can
be found all around the brick walkways on campus.

Bricks have been synonymous with The College of Wooster for
nearly a century and have become a symbol for the school. The
College has long been marked by brick pathways intersecting the
different parts of campus. For years, the brick paths were made
with bricks manufactured at the Wooster Brick Yards in town.
These bricks were marked with the words "Wooster, Ohio." Since
bricks are no longer made at the Wooster Brick Yards, these particular
bricks have become more scarce as time has gone on, and in turn,
are now collector's items to many Wooster loyalists.
Brick paths continue to thrive at Wooster, and in fact, are
increasing in number. During the summer of 2001, Memorial Walk,
which passes through the center of campus, was completely furnished
with new bricks, as were two walkways on the south side of Kauke
Hall. A brand new walkway was added that leads through the new
College Mall to the Kauke Arch.
