Find a home on campus

Wooster students come from 47 states and 37 countries, from all manner of backgrounds and life experiences. They’re serious about their academic lives, but they’re just as intense about exploring their other interests — and having fun. With 120 student groups, 22 varsity sports, and more than 40 living options, not to mention a kilt-wearing marching band, the possibilities are plentiful.

With 99 percent of students living on campus, the residence halls and program houses truly become home. First-year students can choose to live with their First-Year Seminar classmates or a mix of students from all years. After first year, the options multiply. Wooster’s 30 program houses allow you to live with a group of seven to 14 other students who share your interests. Together, you might work on a service project in the community throughout the year, from Habitat for Humanity to the Humane Society.

Close to a third of Wooster students follow their passion for making music through three choirs, a symphony orchestra, symphonic and marching bands, a jazz ensemble, four a cappella groups, and other ensembles. Three in ten participate in intercollegiate athletics, and regularly earn All-American and Academic All-American honors. In the past dozen years, nine Wooster athletes have won the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

From the improv group Don’t Throw Shoes to the student-run investment club (managing a million-dollar portfolio for the college’s endowment), the equestrian team to the radio station, there’s something for just about every interest. And if it’s not here, you can start a new group.

You’ll find just about everything you need on the 240 acre campus, but on those days when you want a change of scene, you can head to downtown Wooster, where you’ll find coffee shops, bookstores, movie theatres, pizza places, bakeries, and a natural food store.
