Ebert Art Center

Ebert Art Center

Originally constructed as Severance Gymnasium in 1912, today the Ebert Art Center is a premier small-college facility for Art and Art History. Renovated in 1973 to house the art department and again in 1997 to include the College's Museum and Sussel Gallery, Ebert Art Center retains its original open design as studio space for art students.

Did You Know? - Until 1968, Wooster used to play all of its home basketball games in tiny Severance Gymnasium, which was inside what is currently Ebert Art Center. The original running track that was above the basketball court now serves as Independent Study studios for seniors.

The Ebert Art Center houses the College’s studio art and art history departments. Formerly the campus gymnasium, the building now includes an art museum with two main galleries. Classes such as drawing, painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, print-making, and art history are all located in this newly renovated building.
