Wooster Facts & Links
The city of Wooster was founded in 1807 in the Killbuck Valley, 55 miles
southwest of Cleveland, Ohio, and 90 miles northeast of Columbus, Ohio.
With a population of 26,000 in the city and approximately 106,000 in
Wayne County, Wooster is the county seat, the home of both The College
of Wooster, The
Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Ohio
State's Agricultural Technical Institute, and a major factory headquarters
of Newell-Rubbermaid, Inc. The largest population of Old Order Amish
is located just to the south of Wooster, featuring shops, crafts, museums,
and restaurants.
Wooster is easily accessible to Mohican
State Park towards the southwest, and to the northwest
to the Cuyahoga
Valley National Recreation Area (Ohio's only national
park) and Cedar
Point (Amusement Park & Roller Coaster Capital of
the World). The major metropolitan areas of Cleveland, Columbus,
Akron and Canton are all within an one-and-a-half hour drive.
